EMS P920 Prehospital Trauma Life Support (N)

This course is a 16-hour continuing education program for EMS providers developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons. The course focuses on trauma patients in the prehospital environment and how to identify, manage, and transport these patients with the highest level of care to give them the greatest change of survival. The course includes didactic training on topics such as the kinematics of injury, rapid patient assessment, and pathophysiology. It also includes skill stations with procedures such as rapid extrication, airway management and ventilation, spinal immobilization and pediatric assessment. Students receive a certification valid for a period of four year. Required current healthcare licensure or certification or of enrollment in a healthcare education program, or permission of the instructor.
