JOU 1100 News Reporting and Writing

This course includes instruction and practice in news writing for newspaper and broadcast media with emphasis on newspapers. Functions of media, media organization, news standards, ethics, media law and news judgment are discussed thoroughly.

Reporting techniques, interviewing skills and the basic process of news production are covered. This course serves as a foundation for editing and advanced-reporting courses as well as journalism labs.
