MAE 3816 Elements of Geometry

This course teaches a variety of traditional and innovative geometric topics via a hands-on approach. This course presents the axioms, basic concepts, proofs and constructions of Euclidean geometry involving line segments, angles, triangles, polygons, circles, parallel lines and similarity. Basic concepts of non-Euclidean geometries are explored. The course focuses on proficiencies related to geometric reasoning to develop effective strategies for understanding geometry from conceptual, representational, and problem-solving perspectives. Development of critical mathematical reasoning and application of theories using technology are emphasized.

Not open to students majoring in mathematics.
